“Everything, including the design and technology, were all by me.”

What is coffee to you? A must have in your breakfast; a symbol of wealth; or a meet-up drink with friends? Located in the corner of Plaza Mont Kiara, there’s an all-white themed, minimal yet upscale café with customers ranging from office workers, foreigners to families. What charm does this cafe have to offer in this historical building?

In fact, this café is pieced together by Andrew. Whether it is the interior design, equipment selection or coffee brewing, it is all by him. He may seem imitating while working, but once the mask is off, he becomes a bubbly uncle who enjoys chatting and sharing his knowledge with customers during his spare time. If you are stopping by for coffee, do start a conversation with Andrew and be ready to gain something new.

“To me, happiness is being able to have a cup of coffee everyday”

It’s the bar that attracts you most when you step into the café. A table of coffee machines stands out within the white interior; it is rare to see such settings in Malaysia and bold to say they are the only one. Besides having a more unique appearance, the equipment here also has a laboratory-vibe, as if you are in one. Most importantly, they are all carefully calculated and set, so it requires less time to brew coffee.

“Making good use of the equipment definitely made things easier!”

Speaking of technique, you cannot miss the coffee here! Apart from the specialty espresso and hand brew, their nitro brew is a must-try! Nitrogen coffee aka the new bae of the coffee industry, is a blend of nitrogen on the base of cold brew coffee, which turns into a unique coffee full with tiny bubbles and a black beer-like texture and taste. So, why don't try it out with your friends?

“The cupping score of coffee brewed from our house roast coffee beans does not exceed a difference of 3% each batch!”

Besides coffee, they also roast their own coffee beans. Andrew roasts the raw coffee beans weekly by batch during his free time with the transparent machine by the door. The aroma will then spread around the store and attract passers-bys. For Andrew, who has lived and worked in Australia for years, coffee is an integral part of his life and he hopes that with the strict detailing from roasting to brewing, he is able to serve the perfect coffee to his customers.

In addition to home brew coffee, the shop also offers specialty coffee! For your information, regular coffee beans are easily avaliable at any price, colour and aroma; however specialty coffee beans are rare, higher in price and have a more intense flavour profile than regular beans. The aroma of the speciality coffees extracred here are richer, stronger and comes with a fruity note of cocoa, orange and plum, giving you a new experience!

The store also produces their own merchandise! From thermos cups to t-shirts, they are all well designed, stylish/wearable and not to mention the superb quality! Side note, the shirts are a collaboration with Pestle Mortar, a local fashion brand. Definitely do not miss out on What's On Tap if you are into coffee!
